Individual Production Permits (IPP) are required for non-domestic wells located outside of a CCN (certificate of convenience and necessity), also known as a public water supplier. Please review the information below to determine which type of IPP your well requires.
Type of Individual Production Permits

This form includes the required applications for Drilling Authorization and a Production Permit. This combined form can only be used for wells that will produce less than 2 million gallons per year. You must complete and submit this application for authorization to drill a new nonexempt well and receive a production permit.
The application fee is $1125 and can be paid in the form of a check to Barton Springs EACD.
If your non-domestic well will be used to produce more than 2,000,000 gallons a year, you’ll need to complete the following steps. All payments must be in the form of a check made out to Barton Springs EACD.
- Non-Exempt Well Application – Complete this application to drill a new nonexempt well. The application fee is $625.
- Pump Test Application – After your well application is approved and the well is drilled, complete this application for authorization to complete a pump test. The application fee is $50.
- Individual Production Permit – This application is required to receive a permit to produce from nonexempt wells after a pump test has been approved and completed. The application fee ranges from $500 – $1500 depending on the classification.
