Individual Production Permits (IPPs) are required for nonexempt wells intended for uses such as, but not limited to, public water supply, commercial use, non-residential irrigation, and industrial use.

The required permitting process for nonexempt wells depends on the anticipated annual groundwater production volume. Select the appropriate tab below to determine which application(s) are required for the proposed well.

This combined application is for nonexempt wells with proposed production volumes that do not require an aquifer test or hydrogeological report.
Because the proposed production volume does not require additional hydrogeological evaluation, applicants may apply for Well Drilling Authorization and a Production Permit at the same time using a single application.
Combination Drilling and Production Application
Application Fee: $1,325
Payment Method: Payment must be submitted by cash or check made payable to Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District.
For nonexempt wells with proposed production volumes that require an aquifer test and hydrogeological report, applicants must complete separate applications for Well Drilling Authorization and an Individual Production Permit.
The Well Drilling Authorization application must be approved along with an staff reviewed aquifer test plan. Once the aquifer test is completed and its results are reviewed, a hydrogeological report must be submitted with the Individual Production Permit application.

Individual Production Permit Application
Application Fee: $900–$5,000, depending on the Aquifer Test Class.
Payment Method: All payments must be submitted by check made payable to Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District.
