Onion Creek & Blanco River Studies

Overview of Studies

Decades of studies document the surface and groundwater interactions in the Edwards Aquifer. However, despite the growing demand for water and threats to surface water resource from both ecological and human health perspectives, little research has been conducted to understand those interactions in the Trinity Aquifers of the Texas Hill Country.

More recent Blanco River and Onion Creek studies provide a greater understanding of the surface water and groundwater resources in the area. This information could help support policies for groundwater and surface-water management and guide additional future scientific research
