Barton Springs and the Loveday Well are the district’s two drought triggers. Thanks to recharge from our last rain even, Barton Springs and Lovelady are still benefitting. But remember, conservation is key. Without additional rain for a prolonged amount of time we could return to Stage II Drought Restrictions. La Niña conditions have developed in the Pacific and are expected to continue with an 87% chance of La Niña in Dec 2021- Feb 2022. This typically leads to conditions thru winter that are, on average, warmer & drier than normal here in south-central Texas.
Oct. 26, 2021 – Barton Springs remains above the Stage II Alarm Drought Threshold of 38 cfs (cubic feet per second). It is currently at 76 cfs.
Oct. 26, 2021 – The water level in the Lovelady Well remains above Stage II Drought Threshold of 478 ft msl (feet above mean sea level). It is currently just above 485.5 msl.
