The District remains in Critical Drought (Stage III). January rainfall delivered an average of 0.89 inches across the District. This was less than the historical January average of 2.2 inches (figure 1). While any rain is good rain in a drought, January yielded little aquifer recharge. So far in February we’ve received 1.3 inches – some of that frozen – about 0.7 inch shy of its historical average (2 inches).
