Aquifer Research

The District was established with a strong foundation in scientific research. Aquifer Science is a major program area of the agency and critical to the management of groundwater resources. Our staff undertake various studies to achieve its mission of conserving, protecting, and enhancing our understanding of the geology and hydrogeology of the Edwards and Trinity aquifers of Central Texas.

The District’s Board of Directors, which is responsible for setting policy, relies on scientific staff to advise them about aquifer science so that appropriate and defensible policies can be established. Click below to learn about some of the focal areas of our team’s research.
